The sweltering Texas heat subsided Thursday night in reverence for The Frontier Brothers. We played Fort Worth's premier downtown rock brasserie, 8.0 (correlating with my IQ). The bill was considerable. Titan Moon started the evening and Chomsky and the Burning Hotels finished things off. It was a good show, if our fans are to be believed, however, the stage sound was frustrating. 8.0 is the victim of a cruel sound ordinance law which caps the noise at 95 decibels. A little orange light on the front of the stage lights up when the band gets too loud, and if - god forbid - that orange light turns red, stage power shuts off for the night. As a result, we had to deal with a wretched stage mix, no drums, quiet vocals, and muddy keyboards. Nonetheless, it was a successful show. Our 8.0 gig also marked the return of a TFB classic, Christmasville.
Last night we played The Cavern in Dallas. Cavern is a room we know well, situated in the heart of lower greenville aka land of the cops. Stage sound was loud and clear. Room was nearly empty. Unfortunately, being a "headlining act," means playing the nightowl slot at these clubs. Yes, we're a headlining act. But this is Dallas we're talking about.
