After catching a sincere reference to this brew in the newest, posthumous release of Bukowski poems, I began to wonder what strange manifests the beer has had in my own life. Like in Denton, Texas, the worst show in the history of the brothers: J&J's pizza. Ok, maybe not the worst. Apparently the sound system had been stolen. They also had no mics. We played a set with unamplified vocals to a crowd of three townie alcoholics. However, we were offered an unlimited amount of Schlitz beer.
In the broken lizard films- (Supertroopers, beer fest) - they always order Schlitz's. Maybe they found something inherently funny about the title and presentation of the beer, something which did not escape the brothers at our infamous Denton gig.
Bukowski and I agree. Drink more Schlitz.
"pardon me," I squeeze by the girl at the
register," they didn't have
what I wanted."
then I walk across the way
where they do
and buy 6 of those
brews that made
Milwaukee
famous.
